Frequently Asked Questions

What age are the sessions suitable for?

Our sessions are best suited for toddlers and preschoolers aged 18 months - 4 years.

Siblings under 1 are welcome to attend for free with a paying sibling.

Do parents stay during the session?

Yes - all sessions are parent/carer supervised.

What's included in a session?

Each session may include a mix of:

  • Sensory play

  • Water play

  • Messy play

  • Arts and crafts activities

  • Play dough

  • Small world play

  • Open-ended exploration

Children are free to move between activities at their own pace.

What should my child wear?

We recommend comfortable clothes that can get a little messy and wet.

While we try to keep activities washable, sensory play can sometimes stain clothing.

Who runs Explore & Play Studio?

Explore & Play Studio is founded and run by Claire, a Northern Beaches mum of two. The idea came from wanting a space where little ones can explore, create and learn through play while parents enjoy a relaxed and welcoming environment.

Claire holds a current NSW Working With Children Check (WWCC).

Where are sessions held?

Explore & Play sessions are run at the Long Reef Surf Club in a ground floor function space.

Do I need to book in advance?

Bookings are recommended as session numbers are limited. If space is available, we will always try our best to accommodate walk-ins on the day. You can view upcoming sessions and book online through our booking calendar.

What if we can't make our session?

Cancellations made more than 24 hours before the session may receive a credit towards a future booking.

Unfortunately we are unable to offer refunds for missed sessions or late cancellations as our sessions have limited spaces and last minute cancellations can be difficult to fill.

If your child is unwell, please keep them home and reach out to us - we will always do our best to help where possible.

Are food and drinks allowed?

Water bottles are welcome. We ask that snacks are kept outside activity areas due to allergies and sensory materials.

Is parking available?

Yes - parking is available at the Long Reef Beach car park. Please note that parking fees may apply, so we recommend checking signage on arrival.

Can I book a birthday party or private event?

We're not offering birthday parties or private events yet, however we hope to introduce these down the track. Stay tuned!
